THE SHELL SPAITALIA 2020 POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER

News - DG Sport

No two ways about it. Faced by the uncertainties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, and without even waiting for the Federal Government’s new directives regarding the confinement and sanitary precautions, DG Sport has decided to postpone the 2020 edition of the Shell SpaItalia. Scheduled initially to be held on Sunday 14th June, the event bringing together all those besotted with two and four-wheel Italian machinery, will finally be held on 20th September.

“The first and foremost objective is to ensure that everyone can fully take advantage of the out of the ordinary day held on the most beautiful circuit in the world, Yves Grosjean, in the name of DG Sport Events, commented. The present situation, with all its uncertainties, does not allow us to even think that everything will be back to normal by the middle of June. In close collaboration with the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, which we thank for their will to find solutions and Shell, our principal partner, the decision was taken to postpone the event until the 20th September. Let’s venture that at the end of the summer life will have returned to normal, and that the public will once again give themselves over to leisure activities. We know that generally, at that time of the year, the weather is very pleasant. Fingers crossed … “

In no way does the change of date bring about any modifications when it comes to the  running of the Shell SpaItalia. “The principal themes remain the 100 years of Alfa Romeo, and the Ducati make, which in fact will be represented in an exclusive manner on two wheels, Florian Jupsin continued. We were already well advanced in the organisation of a more than promising 2020 vintage, so it goes without saying that these three additional months will give us the opportunity to develop some new ideas. Obviously, all registrations received for the 14th June remain valid for the 20th September. And now that the new date has been officially announced, all those with two or four wheels wishing to drive on the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit can announce their arrival via the website www.spaitalia.be, tab ‘Participants’. The new rendezvous is set …”

2020 being the year of all upheavals, it will be a Shell SpaItalia held in an unprecedented atmosphere on 20th September.
