Spa-Classic. The Circuit in Vintage Mode!
The Spa-Classic will be taking place on 13, 14, and 15 May and is an event which has continued to grow so that its now one of the great European historic race meetings. More and more competitors and spectators are flocking to be in attendance at one of the most prestigious events of the season - both because of the magnificent location and the quality of the array on offer on the track. In 2015, the event gathered together 20,000 visitors and 1,500 classic cars (clubs and competition).
Once again this year, fans of historic races will be spoiled for choice with no less than 5 collections of these wonderful cars which will set off on the assault of the Raidillon.
Group C Racing. Group C cars are modern-looking and fascinate every generation. They are capable of performances close to those of the current LMP prototypes, and their top speed can exceed 300 km/hr! The Group C regulation, in force from 1982 to 1994, resulted in legendary cars which have written some of the most beautiful chapters of the Le Mans 24 Hours. First dominated by the Porsche 956 - despite the valiant resistance of the Lancia LC2 - competition gradually became even more intense to achieve its peak with the rise in power of Jaguar, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan and Mazda and also Peugeot with the splendid 905. These cars will definitely be the stars of this 2016 edition.
Classic Endurance Racing is registered as the retrospective endurance races contested from 1966 to 1981, the period during which this discipline reigned in motorsport. Glorious era of the Ford GT40, Porsche 910, Lola T70, Ferrari 512, BMW M1, and others such as Chevron, Chevrolet Corvette, Alfa Romeo T33, etc.
Heritage Touring Cup. This series, comprising sport saloons, is experiencing growing success with the owners and drivers of these cars which enlivened the great era of the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) between 1966 to 1984 and including the high point of the season which was constituted by the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. All the major makes can be seen in these championships.
Sixties Endurance. This year of 2016 celebrates the seventh season of the Sixties' Endurance. A range which, since its inception in 2010, has charmed the public by offering a comprehensive array and quality of “Queens” from the world of the Endurance Championship composed of cars in the pre-63 Sports and pre-66 GT categories. On track there will be machines whose names resonate in the memories of those who loved this period of endurance, which was then seen as the flagship discipline of motor sport: AC Cobra, Ferrari 250 GT, Lotus 15, Jaguar Type E...
Finally, the Trofeo Nastro Rosso brings together pre-1966 Sport and GT models from the more prestigious Italian makes like Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, but also Abarth, Bizzarrini, ISO, Lancia,... or even a few very rare models such as the Aston Martin DB4 and the GT Zagato.
Finally, let's also note the presence in the paddocks of the exhibitors' village, and also lots of entertainment for young and old that make this event one of the most beautiful of the season.
