THE SPA RALLY 2020 WILL TAKE PLACE ON 12TH & 13TH DECEMBER!

Press release - DG Sport

A promise is a promise … At the time of officialising, and in fact constrained and forced to postpone the 2020 edition of the Spa Rallye, the DG Sport team had announced that in no way would it throw in the towel, and that everything would be implemented to ensure that the event, one of the highlight rounds of the Belgian Rally Championship, would be held at a later date in the year.

While in this period of confinement and announcement of postponements, DG Sport has the satisfaction of managing to revive hope. Yes, the Spa Rally 2020 will take place, and moreover in highly similar conditions to those of mid-March. “As from this moment we can officially confirm the dates of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December, which implies that rather exceptionally the Spa Rally will in fact be the final round of the BRC, Christian Jupsin, in the name of DG Sport, confirmed. No way was the bet a foregone conclusion, and we shared this project with all parties concerned, starting with the town of Spa, the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit, the RACB, the promotor of the Belgian Championship and all the communes involved. A general agreement in principle has now been granted and the first feedbacks received were enthusiastic, which reassures our choice …”

In concrete terms it will be a copy-paste of what should have been the Spa Rally 2020 on the 14th and 15th March, with an identical programme, including the WRX special show at Spa-Francorchamps, not forgetting the Yokohama Spa Rally Classic (VHRS) and Critérium appendages. “Needless to say, the registrations received remain valid, and that others could well be accepted in due course, Christian Jupsin continued. Whatever happens, this year 2020 will remain different from all the others, and under these conditions it is clear that everyone is ready to give it their own and save what can be saved, and ensure that this highly awaited Belgian Championship can still keep to all its promises. We were the first obliged to announce a postponement, but now we are the first to be bearers of good news. Perfect!’”

It will therefore be less than two weeks before Christmas that the Spa Rally will allow the fans to grab a large ladle of pleasure, and that the party will be in full swing, this time around in a typical and unprecedented end-of-year setting. And for once some very good news!
