Partial resumption of activities behind closed doors on the 18th of May

Dear All
This year’s season, getting underway at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, is an unusual one. A season behind closed doors, without the spectators, who, together with all those involved in our track days and race weekends, write the story of the Circuit each season. We are living in unprecedented times, across the globe, and we are looking forward to seeing our fans as soon as conditions allow.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our thanks to all the healthcare professionals, who have been taking care of us every day since the start of this pandemic, and also to all the key workers who continue to provide our everyday services.
We have been authorised to partially resume our activities, under strict conditions. Our priority since the start of the pandemic has been the health and safety of all and this will obviously remain the case.
Initially, our track will be open for individual professional sports training from the 18th of May. A maximum of 20 people, per group, will be able to return to the track under the supervision of a coach or supervisor. These days will take place behind closed doors, i.e. without spectators, and subject to strict sanitary and social distancing measures, made possible by the specific layout of our infrastructures. The Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps has particularly extensive external and internal spaces.
As for sports competitions, these remain prohibited until the 31st of July, and mass gathering cannot be held in Belgian until the 31st of August. The decision to open behind closed doors has the full backing of the Circuit and the organisers. Events may not have quite the same appeal without the fans, but the drivers and teams will be here to provide the on-track action, which will be broadcast live.
We wholeheartedly hope that this is the first step towards the return of our trackside spectators. We have continually said that the more we respect the guidelines issued in response to the pandemic, the sooner we will be able to see each other again. We must not lower our guard.
The Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps has therefore introduced a series of measures (masks, visors, hydroalcoholic gel, logistics, medical, etc.) in order to comply with the guidelines issued by the authorities to ensure that everyone’s health is protected.
We would like to extend our warm thanks to all our fans, visitors, organisers and clients for the many messages of understanding and support we have received.
We will update you on all new developments as regularly as possible.
Be sensible, respect the official recommendations, avoid unnecessary contact. And take good care of each other.
