The WEC marks its return to Spa-Francorchamps!

While the race should initially have taken place last May, the WEC finally comes back this Saturday, after an enforced 6-month break, for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with a start time of 1.30 pm!

Let's have a little flashback to a memorable edition from 2019. First Jacky Ickx waved the green flag, freeing the pack for a hectic race…. The weather, so characteristic of the "Ardennes Toboggan"  gatecrashed the party and wintry showers led to multiple safety-car periods. And the fierce battle continued, from start to finish, in the GTLM. In the end, a dream podium for the 6H of Spa: with victory going to the Buemi-Nakajima-Alonso trio; third place to our compatriot Stoffel Vandoorne; and success in the LMGTE Pro to Maxime Martin.

This year, obviously at an unusual time, this programme is at the heart of summer. No surprise if the weather could yet again make its mark, with heatwaves and storms forecast. The health situation forces the event to be held behind closed doors. The atmosphere certainly won't be the same without the fans, but all those involved are committed to ensuring a spectacular show that you'll be able to follow via the small screen (TV, computer, smartphone, etc.).

On the sporting side, we note the arrival of the Canadian Bruno Spengler of ByKolles, and the presence of the freshly-crowned Formula-E champion Antonio Felix da Costa of Jota Sport. We Belgians can only lay our hopes on the shoulders of Maxime Martin this year!

The wheels will start turning this Thursday starting at 4.25 pm, with qualifications from 6 pm on Friday and the big start on Saturday at 1.30 pm!
