The sporting season begins this weekend with the Trophée des Fagnes.

Just like every other year, the Trophée des Fagnes marks the beginning of the sporting season at Spa - Francorchamps. This test is mainly reserved for amateur drivers and comprises two flagship disciplines: the 2016 European VW Fun Cup (accompanied this year by the presence of 2CVs) and the BGDC (Belgian Gentlemen Driver's Club), championship which is experiencing more and more significant success for drivers who want to indulge their passion on small budgets.

Everyone knows the famous cars of the VW Fun Cup which, by their presence, offer all of us a colourful and most enjoyable and fun spectacle, and which are driven by a good number of excellent drivers. They will be on the track on Saturday for qualifying trials of 150 minutes and again on Sunday for a race that will begin at 10am and finish at 6pm, so there are at least 8 hours of intense competition. After the 30-minute trials on Saturday at 1.15pm, the BGDC participants will start on the first trial which will take place on the same day over 90 minutes from 4.30pm to 6pm. The following day, Sunday, from 9.05am to 9.45am, a "Sprint" race will be proposed to them. On Saturday, this 2016 edition also offers us a leg of the Mitjet 2L Endurance. This very spectacular discipline puts mini prototypes on the track which will storm the Raidillon on Saturday at 9.05am for a 4-hour Endurance.

Thus, the 2016 season will be getting off to a flying start on the most beautiful Circuit in the world. You should also note entry is free, paddocks included. So, let's spread the word!
